Hello there, I'm Bronwyn. I've loved sewing clothing for almost as long as I can remember.   When I began The Handmade Closet, I had been designing, pattern making, and stitching linen clothing that I enjoyed wearing. My focus was on versatility, keeping it simple, sustainable and designing for purpose.  

I wanted my clothing to work for me, not against me!

I needed it to be practical; to always feel comfortable; to adjust with my body as needed; in styles that effortlessly worked well together.

Over time the original capsule collection I began with, grew into a full range of clothing items that you'll find here today. Clothing to suit all the seasons, and occasions, designed and made mindfully, for purpose.

Clothing that I love to wear!

In 2019, I opened the doors to a pop-up shop to share my work with whomever walked through the door, just for one day. The conversations that day inspired what The Handmade Closet offers now. Clothing that works for the individuals who choose to wear it. That one day turned into an adventure that continues to this day.

The shop front is a space where a like minded community of people gather. People who appreciate the shift to slowly made clothing, and a less is more approach to dressing. People who support the idea of clothing with purpose not trends, where there is a genuine and transparent approach to all that is required for its ethical production.

I continue to relish my days creating individual clothing pieces for people near and far. People who appreciate the practicality of the designs, the quality of the fabric and the making and who value the idea that clothing made just right for their needs means they can get on with their daily lives feeling fabulous.
