A season of change, a quiet shift. A new chapter.

What I began in 2019, accidentally, grew into something quite wonderful!  And now it is going through a season of change.

Someone once told me the only thing in life you can guarantee is "change" so this is entirely expected.  Change has been with me as a business owner from the beginning and I love that.  It keeps things fresh, ever evolving  and continuously relevant.

I regularly look up from my sewing machine through the window to a wonderful Australian bush outlook.  Incredible eucalypts that have established themselves as a natural community, supporting the understory plants, and providing a haven for wild life that delights when it appears from the under growth.  There isn't a day goes by that I don't notice something new, different.... changed.

As a small independent business owner, the flexibility and freedom to make change as required has always felt kind of right for me.  As someone with an ever evolving new ideas to-do-list,  this creative career path leaves breathing room to make the most of the time for whatever, whenever.  It's never felt like a job to be making clothing for you.  This is not a daily grind, its a passion project.

With change, comes elements that stay the same.  In that bushy outlook outside my window, the same squiggle of the branches, the position of vegetation, the way the sunlight lands and creates shadows at different times of the day, remain the same.  I can assure you The Handmade Closet, like the bush, has some things that will always stay the same.

The same exceptional standard of quality of our linen fabrics. The same exacting standards applied to the work I put into making the clothes. The same need for connection and conversation so that the clothing is made just right for you.  The same accessibility to the actual maker of your linen clothing will continue.  The same gentle production philosophy underpinning our mission to do clothing better, differently even.  The same commitment to understanding your personal clothing experiences and what you need.

I'm looking forward to building the next chapter for The Handmade Closet, will you join me?  Actually, will you join us? The Handmade Closet is you and all those in our community who choose to shop clothing this way.

Let me explain a little more ....

Our beloved store that has housed all the fun of the last seven years, in all it's iterations, is being released back to the wild for someone else to make their opportunity.

Yes, dear friends, I am relocating our shop space.  What you've always known though, will continue.  It is simply going to happen at a new address, a fresh look for the space that sets the scene for our wardrobe conversations, and a wonderful yet unwritten chapter waiting to be explored.

That's all good news, and all the fun will still be in Dayboro.

You'll be making appointments to visit in person or to chat online by phone or video call, you'll be able to join with our customer event days (watch this space) and be invited to enjoy shopping from all the ways I have hiding up my sleeves!

You'll be guaranteed of my continuing mission to make a difference with how clothing is made and enjoyed into the future.

Let's get the next party started! Shall we?

    Hi Bronwyn,
I’ll always hold your store in my heart. Not just because I discovered clothes that felt like who I am…but mostly because I found you! A kindred spirit.
All the luck for the new beginnings and, as always, all my love x

As sad it feels that you are leaving your lovely little space, I’m excited to read about what you have up your sleeve. 😀

This is exciting news. I look forward to visiting your new shop next time I’m in the area, and it’s good to know I can still order remotely.
